A man in darkness

The tears of tomorrow tell the nightmarish tales of our yester years
Our belonging remains a flaw they will ne'er forgive us for
Our lives a battle zone we did not ask conscription into

...The wristlets of pride a catalyst for gloom and doom we never
Aspired for...

Nights and days become a transcendence through periods
of unwarranted anguish
Our fellow fresh and blood quislings we cannot bring ourselves
to hate
Our lives have become an unstructured poem with no persona

...The kisses of the ones we love a taboo our uninformed
kinsmen report to our ancestors...

We come from a place where our boldness is a gratuitous
threat
We come from a populace where our heart’s predilections
are a conviction
And before the day comes when solid betterment
is upon us

Our dauntlessness for loving out of the norm is a chutzpah
that will always be a red-letter for our levigated souls...
