For every time I was hurt
I planted a rose.
So far
I have a garden of gleaming black roses.
And for every time I hurt someone
I uprooted a rose.
Now
I have a clump of waning roses.
We are not painted so motley
though some were painted to shine a bit brighter
but on the same canvas.
At the end
we are only
rolling mishaps that time will unveil.
