Event:The Sun Met
Known as Africa’s Richest Horse Race, the Sun Met takes place annually at Kenilworth Racecourse in Cape Town. Recognising the proud legacy and heritage of horse racing in South Africa. With a jackpot of 1.5 million Rands up for grabs, this is a time for big bets and even bigger hats.
Established in 1995 with its globally acclaimed Design Indaba Conference, this creative convention, bringing together the varied worlds of fashion, architecture, visual arts, crafts and media, is held at the end of February, usually at the Cape Town International Convention Centre.

Established in 2000 to raise funds for wildlife conservation and community development, the Safaricom Marathon, run within the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, is renowned as one of the planet’s toughest marathons.

Type:Mountain Bike Racing
This is a 6-day mountain bike stage race that takes place in Lesotho. You will ride on donkey trails, sought-after 4X4 tracks, sandstone ridges, naturally formed supertube single tracks, footpaths and through some of Africa’s most impressive mountain passes.
Event:The Royal Ascot Goat Races
Date:September / October
This is an annual charity event held in Uganda, since 1993. Similar to the Royal Ascot horse races, there is as much emphasis on fashion, in particular unusual hats with prizes awarded to the best dressed couple, man, woman, and child. Along with goat races, there are food huts, Champagne bars, beer gardens as well as kids activities.
